Surgical Technologist

Candler County Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our Operating Room team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures and providing exceptional patient care.

• Support the mission, vision, and core values of Candler County Hospital.
• Maintain a clean and organized operating room environment, ensuring all equipment and instruments are properly sterilized and prepared for use.
• Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures, providing support and ensuring patient safety.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including washing and disinfecting the surgical site.
• Assist with the transportation of patients to and from the operating room.
• Participate in the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless communication and coordination during procedures.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain current competency in surgical technology.

• Associate Degree or two-year course in a related field or 4 years of experience as a technician with an impressive track record.
• Basic knowledge of nursing and operating room procedures.
• Compliance with Infection Control, Standard Precautions, and OSHA standards for healthcare professionals.
• Able to wear personal protective equipment as needed.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, and maintain a positive attitude.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of medical, financial, and legal information.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

The Surgical Technologist will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent exposure to patient elements, prolonged standing, and walking. The ability to lift 25 pounds or more using proper lifting techniques is required. The position may also involve exposure to communicable and infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and unpleasant patient or unit elements.
