Job Summary

The Assistant Manager will play a key role in ensuring that every customer has an enjoyable, friendly, and informative shopping experience. This will involve coaching customers through the ins and outs of pet parenthood, working closely with leadership to drive sales and customer satisfaction, and leading a team of Sales Associates through the day-to-day operations of the store.

Responsibilities
  • Customer Engagement
    • Actively approach and engage with customers to provide exceptional customer service.
    • Answer customer questions about specific products and provide tailored recommendations to help customers live their best possible lives with their pets.
  • Team Leadership
    • Support the Store Manager in recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent to build a strong team.
    • Provide coaching and development to Sales Associates with timely and specific feedback to create a culture of action and accountability.
  • Product Knowledge and Sales
    • Participate in and lead daily training and continuous educational programs to enhance product knowledge and sales skills.
    • Stay up to date on new products and trends in the pet community, visual priorities, and brand messaging, and share knowledge with the store team.
  • Store Operations
    • Lead Sales Associates through store opening and closing procedures.
    • Manage and oversee all functions of the POS System.
    • Maintain a customer-ready store environment, including unloading shipments, restocking, and placement of product, while maintaining visual and display standards.
    • Maintain awareness of store safety standards, inventory accuracy, reduction of product loss, and uphold all company policies and procedures to support store profitability.
Qualifications
  • A passion for pets and people.
  • Experience leading teams in a supervisory role, with retail experience preferred and pet industry experience a plus.
  • Eagerness to learn and lots of ambition, with a desire to grow and develop with the company.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds while using appropriate lifting techniques and following all safety rules.
  • Ability to climb and balance using a ladder and/or step stool.
  • Ability to continuously stand, walk, bend, stretch, and engage in repetitive motions throughout the shift.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is expected to be $25.50 per hour, with starting salary determined by factors such as local market rate, qualified pool of candidates, internal compensation practices, and budget constraints.
