The Specialized MRI Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive nursing care within the MRI suite, ensuring a secure and supportive atmosphere for patients.

This RN collaborates with team members, employing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate direct patient care effectively.

As a vital part of the Patient Care Team, the RN delivers hands-on care to patients.

They are tasked with making informed clinical decisions and providing a thorough delivery of care tailored to each patient’s needs, engaging in a wide range of patient care activities and services.


SUPERVISION:
Reports directly to the Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing technology and computer systems.
Possesses knowledge of and appropriately uses unit-specific equipment.

Organizes patient care and general unit operations to achieve necessary functions, delegating tasks to other staff as suitable.

Works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate patient care from admission to discharge.
Actively participates in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Adheres to evidence-based policies and procedures to guide nursing practice.

Exhibits best practices consistently, including huddles, hourly rounding, bedside reporting, Service Excellence principles, and effective use of whiteboards.

Recognizes and responds appropriately to the unique cultural variables that patients and professionals bring to their interactions.
Evaluates ethical dilemmas and their potential effects on patient care quality and the nurse's professional responsibilities.
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care plan effectively.
Conducts initial assessments and reassessments, documenting findings accurately.
Interprets and executes physician orders.
Educates patients and families on optimal recovery practices, including pain management and wound care, documenting as required.
Maintains accurate documentation in accordance with departmental policies.
Actively engages in the implementation of the Unit Performance Improvement plan, offering suggestions for operational enhancements.
Possesses knowledge of and appropriately utilizes unit-specific equipment.
Assists in cleaning surgical instruments and MRI rooms to uphold a sterile environment.
Incorporates healthy workforce practices into daily routines.
On-call duties are required for this position.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Current Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or a compact state.
BLS-CPR Certification.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; capacity to learn quickly, analyze problems, and communicate efficiently with colleagues and supervisors.

Requires emotional stability and resilience; must be adaptable to change, decisive, and exhibit foresight.
Must be open to change and receptive to delegated responsibilities; possesses fundamental problem-solving skills.
Physical Demands/Work Environment

This role involves various physical activities, including prolonged standing and walking, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting of weights.

The work environment may be physically restrictive.
Many nursing tasks require acute auditory skills, such as listening with a stethoscope to assess breath and heart sounds.
Must be capable of exchanging accurate information with patients, families, peers, and medical staff.
