GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring exceptional product quality that delivers customer value beyond expectations while maintaining regulatory compliance and optimizing cost efficiency.

This role is pivotal in establishing effective supplier quality processes that guarantee product integrity, cost efficiency, and the safe operation of equipment.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Strategic and Functional:
- Develop and oversee supplier quality strategies through comprehensive risk assessments.
- Support ISO 9000 Quality Process Requirements.
- Facilitate the implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing supplier processes.
- Ensure the development and execution of Corrective and Preventive Action plans at designated suppliers.
- Assess the need for quality data and reports, providing essential quality information to enhance specified processes.
- Conduct supplier quality audits as mandated by the verification plan or by the Quality Manager.
- Identify non-conforming materials and workmanship, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and submit reports as required for audits, inspections, and root cause analyses.

Customer Management:
- Foster positive relationships and collaborate closely with Global Sourcing Leaders to manage supplier and engineering changes, New Product Introductions, and transfers.

- Oversee the supplier audit program and the overall supplier approval/rating system through robust qualification processes.

- Collaborate with Suppliers, Engineering, Service, Manufacturing, and Sourcing to drive quality enhancements that reduce costs associated with quality failures.

- Work alongside product support teams, R&D, and regulatory to address component quality issues and supplier initiatives.

- Attend Engineering design reviews and project meetings to ensure quality checkpoints are integrated into the design process.

- Provide technical assistance to suppliers and Manufacturing functions to ensure delivered quality meets or exceeds performance indicators and regulatory standards.

- Engage directly with vendors under the supervision of the Company's Quality/Logistics, which may involve travel to supplier locations on short notice.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Experience:
4+ Years in Manufacturing, Operations, Design, Supply Chain, Quality, or Regulatory Assurance
Licenses/Certifications:
Ability to obtain and maintain Railroad Certifications, American Society for Quality (ASQ) - Member and Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), and APICS - Certified Production and Inventory Manager (CPIM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or 8+ years of relevant experience in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Design, Supply Chain, or Regulatory Assurance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Advanced Degree in Business/Engineering
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with ISO9000, Six Sigma, Lean, and MRP/ERP systems.
Effective problem-solving and root-cause analytical skills to lead and influence cross-functional and global change.
