Position Summary

The Lead Medical Copyeditor plays a crucial role in supporting the Manager of Research Support by overseeing the medical copyediting team. This position is responsible for the production and management of horizon scanning content and systems, collaborating closely with the Research Assistants to ensure seamless coordination of tasks. The Lead serves as the primary authority on copyediting standards, managing workflow and task distribution among the team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of content.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the medical copyediting team, ensuring effective scheduling and workload distribution.
  • Coordinate copyediting tasks with Science Team Leaders and Technical Editors.
  • Oversee citation management in collaboration with the Research Assistant Team Lead.
  • Make editorial decisions regarding copyediting processes.
  • Stay updated on style guide changes relevant to horizon scanning projects.
  • Maintain proficiency in ECRI's citation management systems.
  • Lead training initiatives for new systems related to content and citation management.
  • Ensure high-quality copyediting of all horizon scanning content.
  • Collaborate with directors and authors to implement accurate edits.
  • Provide training and feedback to team members on copyediting standards.
Qualifications

Experience:
  • Minimum of 6 years in medical copyediting.
  • At least 1 year of leadership experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with content management systems and medical terminology.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in English required; Master's degree preferred.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint is advantageous.
Certifications:
  • Certification from relevant professional organizations is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements

This role is primarily remote, requiring the individual to maintain a stationary position for extended periods while working on a computer. Occasional movement within the workspace may be necessary to access materials and equipment.
