Project Manager

Baker Construction is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for supporting field activities and working closely with the Project Manager to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the job transition process and support the management of cost and schedule, constructability, technical evaluations, quality, safety, work planning, procurement, contract management, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and manage project schedules on small or mid-sized projects.
- Analyze targets and goals, job cost summaries, and other reports to identify areas for improvement.
- Alert the Superintendent and Project Manager to project impact relating to resource management, crew make-up/size, etc.
- Generate and obtain approval of the initial budget and subsequent updates, and review weekly job cost summaries and advise the Project Manager.
- Generate estimates of change orders and interface with pre-construction on original bids.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years' of experience or 6 years' of construction-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- The following competencies are needed to successfully perform this job:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, and government regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
- Ability to communicate well with all levels of workers involved with the project.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, geometry, and trigonometry to practical situations.
- Ability to analyze and compute mathematical differences from all stages of drawings from conceptual to final drawings including development of shop drawings.
- Ability to understand Cost Accounting.
- Basic understanding of construction software such as Primavera, Timberline, Vista, and the like.
- Ability to understand, customize, and modify spreadsheets.
- Ability to direct work and evaluate strengths and weaknesses of co-workers.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to develop construction schedules via the critical path method.
- Ability to understand contracts, specifications, drawings, and scope of work.
- Ability to be proactive in maximizing our return on investment at all times.
