Position Overview
As a Security Officer II, you will play a vital role in maintaining a secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Your responsibilities will include patrolling the facility, responding to assistance requests, and reporting any conditions or individuals that may pose a risk to safety and security. This position requires flexibility in scheduling, as it operates within a 24/7 environment. You will need to obtain and uphold the necessary certifications to perform your duties effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the achievement of departmental goals while adhering to established policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Assist in supervising daily operations, ensuring that all security personnel perform their duties effectively.
  • Act as a mentor and resource for security staff, providing in-service training as needed.
  • Conduct regular security patrols throughout the facility, utilizing various means of transportation.
  • Monitor and assess conditions that may require police intervention, controlling access and inspecting packages as necessary.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, providing assistance to staff and visitors during security and medical incidents.
  • Maintain surveillance through camera systems and other security technologies, addressing any unauthorized activities.
  • Participate in investigations, documenting incidents and maintaining accurate records.
  • Utilize nonviolent crisis intervention techniques to ensure the safety and respect of all individuals on-site.
  • Collaborate with various departments to foster a safe and secure environment.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Engage in community outreach efforts and represent the department in meetings and committees.
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of satisfactory performance as an Officer I - Armed.
  • Consideration for exceptions based on extensive relevant experience in armed security or law enforcement.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid State Driver's License in good standing required.
  • Special Police Officer certification within 180 days required.
  • Firearms qualification within 180 days required.
  • Completion of initial firearms training from a certified instructor required.
  • CPR certification for healthcare providers within 90 days required.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and the capacity to remain calm under pressure.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
