Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Camera Operator to join our team at WMTW-TV, the ABC affiliate in Portland, Maine. As a Camera Operator, you will play a critical role in the production of our live newscasts, working closely with the news production team to ensure a high-quality visual broadcast.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate television cameras for live broadcasts and live production settings, ensuring a smooth and professional on-air experience.
  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and talent to deliver a cohesive and engaging broadcast.
  • Operate audio consoles, responsible for all aspects of sound during newscasts and other projects.
  • Maintain and operate studio lights, ensuring optimal lighting conditions for our broadcasts.
  • Utilize Windows-based computer software to prepare video recordings for air, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to support our 24/7 broadcast operations.
  • Work from a standing position for extended periods, up to 2-3 hours, as required.
Requirements
  • Experience using Windows-based computer software, with a strong understanding of broadcast production operations.
  • Ability to respond promptly to unexpected issues that arise on air, ensuring a seamless broadcast experience.
  • Knowledge of studio lighting and ability to operate and maintain equipment.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders up to 15 feet and lift 25 pounds, as required.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including holidays and weekends, to support our broadcast operations.
  • Ability to engage with the team to resolve unanticipated situations, ensuring a high-quality broadcast experience.
  • Related military experience will be considered.
