Job Summary:

The Banquet Server is a key member of our hospitality team, responsible for delivering exceptional service to our guests during banquet functions. As a Banquet Server, you will be the face of our hotel, ensuring that every guest feels welcome and valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for and serve guests during banquet functions, adhering to hotel standards of food and beverage quality, presentation, sanitation, and warm hospitality.
  • Review and understand the Banquet Event Order (BEO) and complete setup according to the BEO.
  • Set tables in assigned areas correctly and uniformly, using clean, pressed linen, clean silverware, clean china, and clean glassware.
  • Learn the menu for each function served and explain the major ingredients and preparation methods to guests.
  • Be standing in assigned stations at least 15 minutes prior to function start time and acknowledge and respond to all guest requests.
  • Keep stations neat and clean during service and continuously patrol assigned stations, refilling drinks, removing service items, and condiments per established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure guests have everything they need and use proper in-room clearing and aisle tray break down procedures.
  • Assist the Captain or Manager in setting up buffet and other special food services tables/stations, breaking down buffet or other special food service tables and equipment, and setting up, tending, and breaking down banquet bars.
  • Follow cash and guest check procedures and return all excess food to the kitchen following all sanitation guidelines.
  • Complete any assigned side work, such as refilling condiments, shaking and sorting linen, hanging and storing drapes, cleaning and storing serving equipment and/or props, and assisting the steward in keeping Banquet back hall, linen rack, and storage areas neat, clean, and organized.
  • Learn and apply all procedures of proper service and assist co-workers whenever needed.
  • Remain up to date with hotel events and guests, as they affect the areas of responsibility, and maintain responsible alcohol service certification.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous banquet server experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow directions and get along well with others.
  • Must be TIPS, CARE (or equivalent) certified, or become certified by first day on the job.
