Job Summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Patient Service Representative Lead to join our team in the Ambulatory Clinic. As a key member of our patient experience team, you will be responsible for supporting the supervisor and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Mentor: Provide guidance and support to Patient Service Representatives, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional patient care.
  • Patient Scheduling: Schedule internal and external referrals, in-person appointments, telehealth visits, surgeries, and procedures using Epic Cadence decision trees.
  • Registration and Check-In: Register patients during the scheduling process, including entering demographics, insurance verification, and completing the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ).
  • Point of Service Collections: Collect copays, co-insurance, and deductibles from patients during check-in and check-out.
  • MyChart Activation and Support: Assist patients with MyChart activation and support, including online check-in and appointment scheduling.
  • Front Desk Operations: Manage front desk operations, including greeting and checking in patients, answering calls, and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Process Improvement: Participate in departmental process improvement initiatives and attend daily huddles to ensure seamless patient care.
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in ambulatory/admitting/patient registration and pre-certification or one year of experience combined with a completed associate's degree.
  • Skills: High level of customer service skills, ability to maintain patient confidentiality, and basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clerical, Registration, and Customer Service Experience: Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a patient registration or customer service role.
Language Skills
  • English: Fluent English language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
