POSITION SUMMARY
Job Overview:
As an FCMA Eligibility Specialist at Harnett County Department of Social Services, your primary responsibility will be to assess the eligibility of applicants for the FCMA program. Additionally, you may be required to assist in County Emergency Management Shelters during natural disasters as necessary.
Note: Applicants in a Work Against status may require up to one (1) year of Income Maintenance experience to achieve full qualification. The starting salary for employees in a work against status is $38,135 Grade 17, with a progression to $42,044 Grade 19 upon completion of requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties:
- Intake & Applications (60% of the role): Evaluate initial eligibility by processing FCMA applications, collecting pertinent client information, and verifying necessary documentation. You will also ensure ongoing eligibility and perform additional tasks as directed by the FCMA IM Supervisor.
- Organizing (20% of the role): Manage workflow within the FCMA unit, proposing organizational enhancements to improve efficiency.
- Guidelines (20% of the role): Adhere to FCMA manuals and agency procedural guidelines for completing eligibility assessments, adjusting to updates in policies and regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong communication abilities with clients and applicants.
- Capability to interpret regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Awareness of client/applicant needs and challenges.
- Familiarity with agency programs impacting clients/applicants.
Completion of an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
