PRIMARY ROLE:
The Crane Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of hydraulic and mechanical boom/cable cranes, which are essential for the movement, lifting, and handling of materials and personnel.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in a comparable role is preferred.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in operating various heavy machinery and equipment utilized in construction, including tracked cranes, cherry pickers, bulldozers, and forklifts.
  • Knowledge of OSHA hand signals is essential.
  • Understanding of equipment-rated capacities, load ranges, and safety factors.
  • Certification in the safe and proper operation of cranes is required.
  • Familiarity with rigging techniques is advantageous.
  • Must meet the necessary pre-employment and annual physical requirements for crane operators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct daily inspections of cranes prior to operation.
  • Perform weekly checks on wire ropes, blocks, and other applicable components.
  • Assist with routine maintenance and servicing of cranes, including cleaning, oil changes, greasing, and tightening tracks.
  • Operate cranes to lift, move, and position various loads, including machinery, equipment, and bulk materials.
  • Monitor load hook-up and assess the safety of the load.
  • Control crane operations using pedals, levers, and buttons, following verbal or signal instructions.
  • Measure and record the weight of materials or products accurately.
  • Evaluate load weights against lifting capacities to ensure safety.
  • Support in directing team members involved in placing blocking and outrigging under cranes.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, particularly those related to safety, environmental standards, and quality management principles.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
  • Be available for overtime work as necessary.
  • Maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
