Position Summary:

The Project Manager for the Construction Division plays a pivotal role in overseeing project execution while adhering to the core values of Ferguson Electric. This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and nurture relationships with clients, presenting the full range of Ferguson services as needed.
  • Collaborate with various divisions within Ferguson to guarantee outstanding project outcomes for both new and existing clients.
  • Ensure compliance with IBEW regulations and all relevant local, state, and federal codes.
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of construction projects, including:
    • Contract management, financial oversight, and budget adherence.
    • Comprehending the complete scope of projects as outlined in contract documents.
    • Timely management of customer requests for estimates.
    • Effectively manage the Change Order process to maintain project momentum.
    • Prepare and manage invoicing in accordance with contractual obligations.
    • Monitor project budgets by regularly reviewing committed and actual costs against estimates.
    • Set up and evaluate weekly cost codes for projects exceeding 1000 man-hours.
    • Create and manage subcontracts for necessary project work.
  • Project Staffing and Logistics:
    • Work closely with foremen to ensure adequate staffing and that field employees have the necessary tools and equipment for safe and efficient operations.
    • Procure materials with a focus on just-in-time delivery, addressing any logistical challenges promptly.
    • Coordinate with other trades on-site to achieve project goals.
    • Manage the submittal approval process to ensure adherence to contract specifications.
    • Develop and maintain a construction schedule that aligns with project timelines.
    • Oversee all subcontracting requirements as stipulated in project contracts.
    • Manage the Request for Information (RFI) process.
    • Ensure timely submission of project closeout documents.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in large-scale hard bid and design-build projects.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as construction management, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the commercial electrical sector, ideally in a supervisory role.
  • Field experience in coordinating with construction management teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of project scheduling, bidding processes, take-offs, change orders, and contract management.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and contribute to securing projects.
  • Proven track record of managing a profitable project portfolio.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong analytical and leadership capabilities.
  • Possession of a Journeyman or Master Electrician's license is advantageous.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with stringent deadlines.
