Key Responsibilities:- Leadership and Supervision: Lead and mentor a team of engineers, technicians, and contractors in protection and control projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and quality standards.
- System Design and Engineering: Oversee the design and development of protection and control schemes, including relaying systems, SCADA systems, and automation technologies, ensuring all systems meet utility, industry, and company standards.
- Project Management: Manage multiple protection and control projects simultaneously, from concept through commissioning, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project alignment and successful execution.
- Maintenance and Testing: Develop and oversee the maintenance and testing programs for protection and control equipment, ensuring regular inspections and testing of relays, transformers, circuit breakers, and control systems to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with NERC, FERC, and other regulatory standards related to protection and control systems, maintaining accurate records, including as-built drawings, test results, and equipment data.
- Training and Development: Provide technical training and support to team members on protection and control technologies and best practices, staying current with advancements in protective relaying and control systems and incorporating new knowledge into team activities.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in protection and control engineering within the power utility or energy sector, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of protective relays, SCADA systems, PLCs, RTUs, and control equipment in substations and power plants.
- Proven experience with NERC compliance and regulatory standards for electrical systems.
- Proficiency in electrical design software, relay settings, and testing equipment.
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
