About the Position: This role is part of the 97th FSS Club Altus team, offering a flexible schedule with variable hours and no guaranteed benefits. As a Bar Assistant - Beverage Service Specialist, you will support various tasks related to beverage serving activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry supplies and equipment, such as liquors, fruits, ice, glasses, linens, and silverware from storage areas to the bar.
  • Slice and peel fruit.
  • Fills ice bins and crushes ice.
  • Washes and cleans bar glasses, bar equipment, and keeps the work area clean and neat.
  • Replaces empty beer kegs with full kegs using a dolly; stocks beer coolers.
  • Wipes down the interior and exterior surfaces of coolers.
  • Helps in setting up service bars and portable bars.
  • Carries debris to waste containers.
  • May serve bottle beer, soft drinks, and draw beer from kegs.

Evaluating Factors:

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Ability to visually recognize shortages of supplies at the bar, including beverages, beer, condiments, garnishes, glasses, napkins, and utensils, and replace them as needed.
  • Skill required to use knives and automatic slicers in preparation of garnishes, such as oranges, limes, and lemons.
Responsibility:
  • Receive specific instructions concerning completion of assignments and make simple decisions regarding the type and amount of bar supplies needed from the storage room.
  • On unusual assignments, supervisors frequently check work, while repetitive assignments are completed with minimal supervision.

Working Conditions:

  • Requires frequent light to moderate lifting and carrying objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pushing and pulling objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lifting up to and over 40 pounds.
  • Heavier objects, like beer kegs, are usually transported with the aid of a dolly.
  • Works in inside areas that are adequately heated and lighted.
  • Exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and chapped hands.

Requirements:

  • No previous training or experience is required for this position.
  • Able to follow simple oral instructions and use knives and automatic slicers to prepare garnishes.
  • Ability to frequently lift objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pull and push objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to and over 40 pounds.
  • Satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
  • Must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement for working with and/or serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
  • Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Estimated Salary: The estimated annual salary for this position is around $25,000 to $35,000, depending on location and qualifications.
