Job Title: Senior Avionics Systems Engineer

The Structures Company, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Avionics Systems Engineer to join our team in Bothell, WA.

Job Summary

We are looking for a seasoned Avionics Systems Engineer with extensive experience in designing and developing advanced avionics systems for VIP and commercial aircraft. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems, avionics, and aircraft interior cabin systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop advanced avionics systems, including cabin system components, in-flight entertainment, communication systems, LED cabin lighting, AC/DC power systems, and other related systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet customer criteria, quality standards, FAA requirements, budget, and project schedules.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including wire diagrams, preliminary wire routing, and other related documents.
  • Review and approve completed drawing packages from peers and ensure they meet quality and regulatory standards.
  • Develop verification and test procedures to comply with the latest FAA design requirements.
  • Support installation of systems via liaison with modification facility, identify root cause issues, capture redline updates, resolve design issues, and update drawings to meet schedule.
  • Interface with customers, FAA designees, and vendors to ensure designs meet all requirements.
  • Participate in the project bid process to capture engineering and design requirements for bid estimates and firm price quotes to customers.
  • Participate in the project scheduling of the avionics systems to ensure accuracy to major milestones and deliverables.
  • Prepare design checklist, templates, and other processes as needed.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers on technical designs or processes.
  • Maintain close coordination with project engineers to comply with schedule and cost of projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace or electrical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of eight years relevant aerospace experience, preferably in aircraft interior and/or VIP retrofit experience.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of Boeing aircraft for VIP and/or commercial models.
  • Strong working knowledge of My Boeing Fleet for OEM data sets.
  • Thorough knowledge of power distribution and certification and electrical design process.
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to successfully interface with customers on projects.
  • Competent use of CAD and data management systems.
  • Ability to understand and derive multiple customer standard electrical system requirements.
  • Ability to work well independently and cross-functionally across multiple organizations.
  • Ability to coach and motivate team of engineers.
  • Experience leading employees/teams in productive and efficient manner.
  • Strong communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, use hands to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and have close/color vision ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to work outside of core business hours as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to meet high expectations for meeting strict schedule, budget, and technical solutions.
  • Ability to adapt and lead tailored processes designed for prototype engineering (vs. production engineering).
  • Demonstrate technical expertise under strict deadlines with minimal margin of error.
  • Extensively broad and diverse knowledge of avionics, including locating, provisioning, and installations for LRUs (electrical equipment), 3D wire routing adhering to aircraft system separation requirements.
