Powder Coating Technician Job Description

Warn Industries is seeking a skilled Powder Coating Technician to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of powder coating equipment, ensuring high-quality finishes on various surfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate powder coating equipment, including guns, booths, and curing ovens.
  • Select appropriate powder coatings based on job requirements, ensuring proper adhesion and finish.
  • Maintain ability to Powder coat columns in less than 20 minus and maintain a re-coat level of less than 5%.
  • Adjust and monitor equipment settings to achieve desired coating thickness and appearance.
  • Conduct quality checks on coated products to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for coating, including degreasing, sanding, and masking.
  • Inspect materials for defects, such as rust or dents, and address any issues before the coating process.
  • Perform regular maintenance on powder coating equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions or issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff to address any mechanical or electrical problems.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to powder coating processes and materials.
  • Document any deviations from standard procedures and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with other team members to prioritize and schedule powder coating jobs.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and quality control personnel.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in powder coating is a plus.
  • Prior experience as a Powder Coating Technician in a manufacturing or production environment is a plus.

Working Conditions:

The Powder Coating Technician will work in a shop environment, as well as a usual office environment. May be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold and hot temperatures, chemicals, and vapors.

Move to, from and within the designated work area frequently and consistently throughout the workday and regularly throughout our building and/or across property site locations, possibly during inclement weather.

Lift, transport and/or move a specified amount of weight frequently each day in the performance of regular duties as outlined below with respect to each machining area. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing and descending a stepladder may also be required.
