Purpose & Scope:

This role involves performing radiographic procedures at a technical level, requiring supervision from a staff technologist. The Diagnostic Technical Manager may impose restrictions as necessary.

The successful candidate will perform a variety of technical procedures, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. They will assume responsibility for designated areas and procedures as required.

Requirements:
  • Current enrollment in an ARRT-approved program as a second-year student is mandatory.
  • Completion of the first year of the Radiographic Program in good standing is required.
  • BLS certification is necessary.
  • ARRT Certification must be obtained within 6 months of graduation, after which the role will transition to PRN Radiographer Non-Certified.
Physical Requirements:

The employee must possess physical capabilities equivalent to the demands of the job, including exerting over 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or over 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or over 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

The employee must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress associated with this position, operate office machines safely, and push patients on stretchers, wheelchairs, or beds from one area to another.

Working Conditions:

The role involves working in a well-lighted, ventilated office/clinical setting with varying exposures to excessive humidity or noise. The employee may be subject to frequent interruptions, long hours, changing shifts, and may be required to work beyond normal working hours when requested.

The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary for instances of exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious processes, which are supplied by the hospital. The employee may be involved with patients, family members, co-workers, and visitors under all conditions, including hostile and/or emotionally upset, disoriented, or combative individuals. There may be moderate exposure to radiation, which is monitored by film badge and reviewed monthly.
