About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Computational Physicist to join our team at the Southwest Division of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA). As a member of our Computational Physics Group, you will be responsible for performing computational analysis and developing code for large-scale simulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational structural dynamics (CSD) simulations on local computing clusters and High Performance Computing (HPC) systems.
  • Develop and run high-fidelity simulations on parallel platforms.
  • Model multiphase flow, heat transfer, and other complex phenomena.
  • Work with a team of engineers and scientists to provide innovative solutions to our customers.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement new computational methods and tools.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in physics or engineering (mechanical, chemical, or aerospace).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Julia, Fortran, C, or C++.
  • Experience with CFD meshing tools, such as PointWise or ANSYS/FLUENT.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance, which includes US citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in physics or engineering (mechanical, structural, chemical, or aerospace).
  • Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) and code development.
  • Knowledge of compressible flow and shock physics.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and cultivate business-development opportunities.
