Violence Prevention Specialist

About the Role

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a Violence Prevention Specialist to join our team. As a Violence Prevention Specialist, you will play a critical role in addressing the root causes and risk factors of violence, including the social drivers of health. You will work with high-risk victims of violent injury, providing them with a lasting partnership to change their life course.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interface with hospital personnel and policymakers to develop and implement violence prevention strategies
  • Work with at-risk communities and participate in community outreach events promoting violence prevention
  • Link clients to mental health services, employment, housing, education, and other risk reduction resources
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with local organizations and stakeholders

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in social work or a related field
  • One year of experience in violence prevention or a related field
  • Knowledge of the social drivers of health and violence prevention strategies

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working with community-based organizations in San Francisco
  • Experience working in the realm of violence intervention, conflict resolution, and conflict de-escalation
  • Personal connection to San Francisco community or previous work with underserved communities
