Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at UTMB Health. As a Vocational Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care to patients in a correctional setting, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, including administering medications and treatments, and performing various diagnostic or treatment procedures.
  • Participate in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care given, ensuring that patient needs are met and care is delivered in a safe and effective manner.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans, and to address any changes in patient status or care priorities.
  • Document patient care in all assigned records, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of patient interactions and care provided.
  • Adhere to infection control, isolation procedures, and aseptic techniques in the delivery of patient care, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current license/permit as a vocational nurse in the State of Texas.
  • No experience required, but recent graduates with temporary permits will be considered.
  • Current BLS-HP certification required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing patient care and responding to changing situations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
