Position Overview
The Assistant Project Manager is a developmental role focused on acquiring the skills necessary to oversee and guide team members on specific projects. This role involves the formulation of strategic initiatives and budget management, alongside the creation of a detailed project roadmap and the evaluation of statistical information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily project operations or specific segments of a project.
  • Recognize change orders and ensure effective resolution.
  • Estimate, monitor, and control change orders.
  • Plan and oversee cash flow in relation to cash expenditures, providing regular financial reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of project progress as tasks are completed.
  • Document project challenges and conditions.
  • Organize and execute project completion and final inspections.
  • Establish clear objectives and plans to prioritize, organize, and achieve work goals.
  • Interpret blueprints and project specifications accurately.
  • Research and compile submissions; estimate costs for partially designed projects by completing the design and preparing a comprehensive project estimate.
  • Engage with supervisory staff, clients, contractors, and design professionals to address and resolve issues related to work processes, complaints, and construction challenges.
  • Represent the company in communications with external parties, including customers, the public, government entities, and general contractor representatives.
  • Understand the urgency of decision-making, submission of requests for information (RFIs), and documentation of all verbal agreements.
Qualifications
  • Selected candidates will undergo a government security investigation and may need to meet eligibility criteria, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; an active DoD TS/SCI clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering or a related field) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in construction, particularly with electrical or construction contractors, for at least five years.
  • Proven experience managing construction projects valued between $500,000 and $10 million.
  • Familiarity with contract drawings, subcontracts, contract amendments, specifications, change orders, RFIs, and submissions.
  • Experience with Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles necessary for producing precise technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and organize personal or team activities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office, Blue Beam, and PDF software.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Accubid Estimating (or similar software) related to electrical installations.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 CPM Scheduling (or equivalent).
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as necessary.
Physical Abilities
  • Ability to work on computers for extended periods.
  • Capability to sit for long durations.
  • Dexterity to reach and extend hands or arms in various directions.
  • Finger dexterity for tasks such as typing.
  • Ability to listen and comprehend spoken information effectively.
