This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the United Nations as an Investigator in the Operational Standards and Support Section (OSSS) at the Investigations Division (ID). The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting investigations, gathering evidence, and analyzing data to inform policy decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct Investigations: Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into alleged misconduct, malfeasance, mismanagement, fraud, corruption, waste of resources, or alleged violations of United Nations Regulations and Rules.
- Gather Evidence: Gather and analyze evidence to support investigations, including interviewing witnesses and suspects, and reviewing documents and records.
- Analyze Data: Analyze data to identify trends and patterns, and provide insights to inform policy decisions.
- Supervise and Manage: Supervise and manage the work of junior investigators, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Communicate Effectively: Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including senior management, colleagues, and external partners.
- Education: Advanced University degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in law or a relevant field is required.
- Experience: A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in investigation related work, together with supervisory functions, is required.
- Language: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is desirable.
- Professionalism: Knowledge of theories, concepts, and approaches relevant to criminal and administrative investigations. Ability to identify and analyze problems/issues and participate in their resolution.
- Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively; listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others, and responds appropriately.
- Teamwork: Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve Organizational goals.
- Leadership: Serves as a role model that other people want to follow; empowers others to translate vision into results.
