The Ammonia Refrigeration Technician Apprentice is a vital role within Apple Ice, focusing on the maintenance and repair of refrigeration systems. This position involves both scheduled maintenance and urgent repairs, specifically for ammonia and freon systems across various facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety, efficiency, and reliability of refrigeration equipment used in the production and storage of products, including:
- Ice Production
- Freezing Units
- Display Merchandisers
- Optimize system safety to enhance quality while minimizing operational costs.
- Conduct electrical and mechanical maintenance to comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of refrigeration systems and their surroundings.
- Document all system-related activities as mandated by law and company policies, including:
- Inspections
- Repairs
- Change Management
- Work Orders
- Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Continuously seek improvements in processes and implement best practices across the organization.
- Manage spare parts inventory, balancing cost efficiency with lead time considerations.
- Standardize components whenever feasible, particularly in new system designs.
- Take pride in maintaining company vehicles and tools.
- Exhibit professionalism through:
- Punctuality
- Attention to detail
- Self-motivation and a strong work ethic
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in an electrical or mechanical capacity within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Willingness to travel for company-sponsored training and to complete certification tests for RETA cert 1-4, IR 1-19/CR1-20 modules, with a commitment to a two-year training process while employed full-time.
- Ability to travel daily to various company facilities for job responsibilities.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Physical capability to stand, climb, and squat for extended periods, and to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work in diverse temperature conditions, ranging from hot (105°F) to cold (0°F).
