We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at the Public Health Department in the County of Santa Barbara. As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, you will provide nursing care and administer prescribed medications and treatments to patients, perform related tasks, and work under general supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct basic physical and mental status assessments, assist patients in filling out various forms, and record health history and assess medical status.
- Establish and document a health care plan under the supervision of a physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Registered Nurse, and carry out diagnostic procedures under physician orders.
- Provide instruction and education to patients for various health problems and prevention, medical tests, and procedures.
- Perform various routine medical procedures, such as giving injections, ear lavage, cleaning wounds, and changing dressings, and schedule medical tests and surgeries.
- Administer medications, draw blood, and collect specimens, conduct routine tests, and perform diagnostic tests.
- Assure sufficient supplies and medication are available at all times, make routine inspections of medical equipment, and maintain daily logs, medical records, and statistical data.
- Possession of a valid license as a Vocational Nurse in the State of California.
- Knowledge of physical and mental health assessment techniques, first aid procedures, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the effects and side effects of commonly used medications, general practice medicine, and medical terminology.
- Ability to conduct health assessments, accurately document medical records, perform diagnostic procedures, arrange for medical referrals, tests, and surgeries, and educate and instruct patients regarding various health problems and prevention, medical tests, and procedures.
