About the Role

We are seeking an experienced NEPA Specialist, Mid to join our team at Booz Allen Hamilton. As a key member of our environmental team, you will play a critical role in supporting our clients with environmental planning and compliance services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide environmental compliance and technical support for federal government clients, with a focus on National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements.
  • Develop and implement environmental planning programs and procedures for Military Services or federal agencies.
  • Stay up-to-date on executive orders, laws, regulations, and policies throughout the NEPA process, including the Council on Environmental Quality's NEPA implementing procedures.
  • Apply knowledge of environmental planning procedures for federal agencies, such as the Department of the Interior, U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and Environmental Protection Agency.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies for environmental sustainability.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience providing environmental compliance and technical support for federal government clients.
  • Experience with environmental planning programs and procedures for Military Services or federal agencies.
  • Knowledge of executive orders, laws, regulations, and policies throughout the NEPA process.
  • Knowledge of environmental planning procedures for federal agencies.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously and quickly learn and adapt to new subject areas.
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting the Department of Defense with environmental planning requirements, including requirements under NEPA, Sikes Act, Endangered Species Act (ESA), Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), or Clean Water Act (CWA).
  • Experience with DoD plans and policies as they pertain to climate change and natural resources.
  • Experience implementing Environmental Justice at the Federal level.
  • Knowledge of state-specific environmental planning requirements, prioritizing requirements in Hawai'i.
  • Possession of excellent written and verbal communications skills, for audiences at senior levels of government, congressional staff, and technical subject matter experts.
  • Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Environmental Management, Marine Science, Environmental Law, or Environmental Policy.
