Position Overview: The Library Assistant - Circulation plays a vital role in delivering information, guidance, and support to library users regarding library services, protocols, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to both external and internal patrons. Address and resolve inquiries or issues effectively.
  • Welcome patrons and foster a friendly library environment.
  • Manage the check-in and check-out of materials, update and maintain patron accounts, organize materials on shelves, and assist patrons in locating resources.
  • Guide patrons in catalog searches and material requests. Offer reading suggestions and book recommendations.
  • Handle the processing and labeling of new materials; assist in repairing damaged library items.
  • Contribute to the creation of book displays to encourage library engagement.
  • Engage in the library's continuous professional development training program.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Support library programs or outreach initiatives as required.
  • Assist in rearranging furniture and equipment as necessary.
  • Be available for evening and weekend shifts as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education and Experience
  • High School diploma; 1-2 years of experience in library services or customer support, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge and skills.
  • Proficient in computer usage, including Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and familiarity with office equipment.
