Position Summary

The Universal Caregiver plays a vital role within a household team, promoting an atmosphere that encourages resident participation and personal development. Under the guidance of a registered nurse, this position is responsible for delivering outstanding nursing care in a home-like setting, assisting with dining experiences, and collaboratively implementing programs that reflect the everyday activities of our residents. This includes maintaining personal living spaces and engaging residents mentally and emotionally to enhance their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Foster a warm, person-centered care environment that emphasizes positivity and calmness.
• Review resident care plans with the supervising nurse to ensure clarity on assignments and necessary instructions.
• Provide personal hygiene assistance, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, as outlined in care plans, while reporting any changes in resident conditions.
• Facilitate safe transfers and mobility assistance using appropriate devices.
• Complete all necessary documentation for care and billing purposes.
• Assist residents during meals, including food preparation, serving, and menu selection.
• Perform basic household tasks such as laundry, cleaning, and checking for expired food items.
• Prepare residents for appointments and provide transportation support as needed.
• Adhere to safety protocols and report any hazardous conditions to the supervising nurse.
• Respond promptly to calls for assistance.
• Participate in required training programs, including dementia care education.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
• Certification as a Home Health Aide or Certified Nursing Assistant in Connecticut is required.
• Eligibility for Certified Nursing Assistant registration in Connecticut is necessary.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
• Experience with electronic medical records systems is advantageous.
• ServSafe handler certification is required.

Work Schedule

This position requires 16 hours per week, with shifts from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
