Key Responsibilities

Position Summary:


The Warranty Analyst plays a crucial role in conducting technical evaluations of shock absorbers that exhibit potential failure modes, and effectively communicating findings to both internal and external stakeholders to enhance customer satisfaction.


Primary Duties:
Ensures a safe working environment by adhering to all safety and environmental regulations.

Promotes a culture of safety by reporting near misses and environmental hazards, utilizing required personal protective equipment (PPE), and encouraging colleagues to do the same.

Receives defective or damaged shock absorbers from clients and manages work planning to include engineering testing and production teardown support.


Conducts visual inspections, performance assessments, noise evaluations, and teardown analyses of shock absorbers to determine the root causes of performance failures.

Performs microscopic examinations on components to identify any irregularities and causes of assembly failures.

Documents and maintains comprehensive records of all analyses conducted and presents summarized findings to clients.

Analyzes all available data from customer warranty claims to identify trends in warranty returns.


Conducts timely and documented evaluations of warranty returns and assemblies in accordance with contract specifications to ascertain proper accountability among thyssenkrupp Bilstein, clients, and suppliers.

Ensures that time-sensitive deadlines for analysis and determinations are met, and reports warranty key performance indicators (KPIs) to management.


Identifies failure modes and root causes through safe teardown and testing of returns, microscopic examination of components, data documentation, and photographic analysis.

Provides feedback to the Product and Hardware Assurance Management (PHAM) through weekly operational reviews and monthly/quarterly risk assessments.

Leads problem-solving initiatives for warranty-related issues, collaborating closely with the Customer Quality Engineer (CQE) responsible for the end customer.

Supervises direct reports and mentors co-op students.

Engages in continuous improvement efforts for the warranty laboratory, which may include safety enhancements, teardown methodologies, and data management tools.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:
Highly organized with the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

Proven track record in developing work processes that enhance outcomes for the team and clients.

Skilled in negotiating with clients to establish shared rates and ensure compliance with customer standards and expectations.

Capable of presenting findings to upper management and formulating sustainable corrective actions to mitigate warranty exposure.

Ability to adapt focus and multitask as necessary.

Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5Why, etc.) and the ability to lead a team in their application.

Education:
High School Diploma required; further technical education preferred.
