Job Summary

The University of New Mexico seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of Institutional Analytics. This key leadership position plays a critical role in supporting the data-informed decision making of the university, directly supporting the Office of the Provost, the President's Office, and the schools, colleges, and branch campuses of the university.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the analysis and interpretation of faculty, employee, enrollment, financial aid, budget, and instructional activity data from enterprise systems, including historical and comparative data.
  • Systematically manage and report academic data in response to surveys and inquiries, including those from various publications and external agencies, such as federal IPEDS and state Higher Education Department (NMHED) reporting.
  • Maintain and improve a suite of reports and dashboards for institutional leadership, including the President and Provost, and their staffs, relating to topics such as enrollment patterns, faculty/student data, admissions, and financial aid.
  • Serve as liaison to and responsibility for data submission to and capture of comparative peer data from IPEDS, NMHED, WICHE, and other external agencies.
  • Conduct special studies and analyses at the request of university officials.
  • Manage the flow of ad-hoc requests to the Office of Institutional Analytics to ensure optimal service to the university while maintaining compliance with relevant data governance and privacy policies.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Assessment and Academic Program Review, as well as the Enrollment Management Reporting Team, to ensure that university stakeholders have access to clear, consistent, and accurate data for decision making.
  • Outreach to constituencies within the university to promote data literacy and fluency with institutional data resources.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and committees with Information Technologies, University leadership, statewide groups, and ongoing student success initiatives.
Requirements
  • Master's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports, draw conclusions, and make recommendations based on research data and findings.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of clientele and/or media sources.
  • Employee development and performance management skills, including the ability to hire, train, supervise, and continuously develop employees.
  • Knowledge of database construction, management, and retrieval methods.
  • Knowledge of student data, sponsored research program data, faculty and staff HR data organization and retrieval.
