Compensation

The estimated annual salary for this position is $106,330.00, based on industry standards and market conditions.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing diseases, and administering preventive care according to individual patient needs.
  • Utilize problem-based approaches to develop comprehensive treatment plans and communicate effectively with clients.
  • Document patient observations, exam findings, treatments, and diagnoses in medical records accurately and concisely.

Surgical and Dental Procedures:

  • Perform routine and complex surgeries, including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory, and mass removals.
  • Conduct dental procedures, such as full dental examination, evaluation of radiographs, extractions, and oral surgical procedures.

Collegial Teamwork:

  • Participate in rounds as incoming or exiting doctor at beginning and end of shifts.
  • Disseminate knowledge throughout staff to improve care and communication.

Supervision and Autonomy:

  • Take direct supervision from Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director.
  • Make decisions regarding patient care while adhering to Petco Veterinary SOPs.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
  • Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located.
  • Current DEA license and Controlled Substance License, if applicable.
  • USDA Category I (minimum) Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
