Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Communicative Disorders Therapist to join our team at Polk County Public Schools. As a Communicative Disorders Therapist, you will be responsible for providing speech and language services to students with communication disorders, working closely with educators and parents to ensure that all students receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).

About the Role

This position requires a deep understanding of child development and the ability to administer testing instruments as required. You will work cooperatively with parents, school districts, and agencies in providing services to students, and have strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with students, teams, and groups.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide leadership in the team process of identifying students who may need speech and language assessments and determine a continuum of intervention strategies and/or possible eligibility for special education or related services.
  2. Conduct thorough, appropriate, and balanced speech, language, and/or communication assessments using a comprehensive assessment plan, and evaluate and summarize all relevant results.
  3. Use service delivery options appropriately, efficiently, and effectively, following evidence-based practices, and maintain clear and comprehensive records.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institute in Communication Science Disorders.
  • Valid Florida certification in-field or hold appropriate state license for the position.
  • Experience in public schools.
Work Environment

This role requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions, with some potential for working outdoors as well.

Estimated Salary Range

$55,000 - $75,000 per year, depending on experience.
