Position Overview:

DV Trading LLC is on the lookout for a Systems Engineer to enhance our dynamic IT department based in Chicago. In this critical position, you will play a key role in advancing our Linux, virtualization, and cloud capabilities, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies to optimize our IT operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and sustain our Linux server architecture, ensuring optimal performance, low latency, and high availability.
  • Design, implement, and refine Linux solutions to adapt to the organization’s changing requirements, focusing on capacity planning and performance enhancement.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams, including Windows, Networking, and Storage Services, to ensure seamless integration and operation.
  • Develop and uphold disaster recovery and backup strategies for critical servers across multiple data centers.
  • Diagnose issues, outages, and performance constraints, implementing effective solutions to boost system reliability and efficiency.
  • Automate Linux server provisioning, monitoring, and reporting tasks to enhance operational efficiency and minimize manual intervention.
  • Conduct regular health assessments and proactive maintenance to guarantee the stability and security of Linux systems.
  • Engage with vendors to assess new technologies and solutions, providing recommendations based on business needs.
  • Document configurations, procedures, and best practices to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity within the team.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers, offering technical support on systems-related projects and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing enterprise Linux server solutions, including system administration, scripting, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with bare-metal provisioning systems, PXE, Kickstart, or similar tools.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Salt, Ansible, Terraform, and proficiency in scripting languages like Bash and Python.
  • Proven experience in building infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code practices and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for application deployment and upgrades.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and their integration with Linux systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of diagnosing complex systems issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Relevant experience in low-latency and high-frequency trading environments is advantageous.
  • Preferred certifications include RHCSA, RHCE, or Linux Foundation Certified Systems Administrator.
