KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Collaborate closely with business development and program teams to build strong relationships with clients and outline the product vision and technological roadmap.

Lead the formulation of system, subsystem, and product requirements while implementing industry best practices for Systems Engineering.
Oversee requirements derivation, decomposition, and allocation to support the Systems Engineering V life-cycle phases, stage gate reviews, and associated checklists.
Coordinate requirements analysis efforts with Integrated Product Teams and relevant product development engineering disciplines.
Conduct systems analyses and trade studies to define system and subsystem level designs.

Support trade studies and analysis activities for system architecture, identifying necessary support for product commonality, technology maturity, production readiness, and compliance with health and safety standards.

Assist in trade studies aimed at enhancing systems performance regarding size, weight, power, cooling, and cost-effectiveness.
Collaborate with product development teams to create product specifications and design documentation.
Develop and maintain systems engineering processes, procedures, checklists, and templates.
Engage in process initiatives to create guidelines, templates, and work instructions.
Participate in systems engineering reviews.
Support data management, configuration management, risk management, and issue tracking activities.
Assist Systems Engineering and Product Engineering as needed in various capacities.
Perform architecture analysis linking requirements to derived system elements.
Work with Systems Architect Engineers to execute requirements allocation, decomposition, and derivation to systems architecture and product structure.
Coordinate with all functional product disciplines to fulfill product requirements.
Establish system product structure to support vehicle architecture design.
Develop vehicle interface specifications and attributes to facilitate subsystem design, component hardware and software, assemblies, ICDs, and block diagrams.
Engage in product review cycles, phase gate reviews, and approval of technical work products, ensuring timely delivery of customer products.
Define requirements for life-cycle design reviews, mapping contract Statement of Work (SOW), and reviewing entrance and exit criteria.
Establish work product checklists and develop compliance checklists for requirements.
Manage the development of system requirements, ensuring traceability and allocation to functional and physical elements, as well as system performance specifications.
Outline plans and requirements for activities supporting implementation, integration, and production readiness.
Provide updates on system activities, metrics, and issues to support system and product needs.

Assist in setting design parameters to achieve a cost-effective approach aligned with specifications, performance, and reliability objectives.

Ensure that products comply with Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as international homologation requirements.
Establish designs through calculations, analysis, and various verification techniques.
Support the release of engineering designs during prototype and production phases of programs.
Maintain communication with vendors and subcontractors to stay informed about new materials, products, sources, pricing, and lead time requirements.
Encourage vendor knowledge and participation in product standardization and cost reduction efforts.
Assist in providing engineering analysis for field issues and, as necessary, recommend and implement corrective actions.
Support the manufacturing team during production startup and resolve engineering changes for effective production runs.
Conduct requirements analysis, decomposition, and derivation to create product requirement specifications.
Promote Systems Modeling (SysML) model-based practices that support requirement analysis and specification definition.
Develop system behavior models using SysML practices and generate supporting DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) views as needed.
Conduct various product analysis studies to define product requirements for component hardware size, weight, power, cooling, and affordability.
Create product interface specifications for component hardware and software.
Develop product requirements with allocations to manufacturing and supply chain for hardware special and key characteristics.
Apply systems engineering best practices as defined by the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) and industry standards.
Document metrics and status reports.
Conduct systems, subsystem, and product requirements analysis to develop system, product, and design specifications.
Develop product requirements for component hardware specifications.
Conduct market surveys, technology studies, and assess manufacturing readiness for new product development opportunities.
Create requirements best practices, processes, guidelines, templates, and supporting artifacts.
Develop supplier Statement of Work (Work), physical and key characteristics, and product requirements specifications.
Implement risk management best practices and evaluate requirements for program and technical risk.
Support Business Case development for programs and projects.
Contribute to the Strategic Development Plan (PDP).
Support Lean Six Sigma initiatives (Green Belt Certification).
Assist in proposal development.
Advise on software products that support ZipRecruiter Systems Engineering processes.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering and 8-15 years of experience in total vehicle or component design/development.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Strong understanding of vehicle system architecture.
Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving abilities.
Attention to detail is crucial.
Strong interpersonal skills to drive necessary actions for task completion.
Customer-focused mindset.
Fluent in English.
Ability to work independently.
Eligibility for security clearance.

Required Skills:
Familiarity with DoD contract requirements and specifications for ground vehicles.
Knowledge of vehicle system architecture for military and commercial programs.
Experience in Risk Management best practices.
Experience with Program Management.
Experience in general systems analysis activities and product development.

Desired Skills:
Familiarity with the International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Systems Engineering Handbook.
Knowledge of DODAF-based architecture frameworks.
Experience with model-based systems architecture using industry tools and practices.
Experience in developing DoD artifacts.
Experience in the design, implementation, and qualification of military vehicles.
Experience in adhering to military and industry standards.
Experience in Systems safety and hazard analysis.
Experience in Design for Reliability best practices and conducting reliability studies.

Desired Support Tools:
Proficiency in requirements management and life-cycle tools.
Experience with SysML tools.
Knowledge of Trade Study and Risk Decision tools.
Ability to create MS PowerPoint presentations.

Administrative tools:
Proficient in MS Office 365, MS Office Suite, MS Project, Visio, SharePoint, S4 HANA (SAP).
Familiarity with Program Management, Resource Management, Schedule Management, and Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
