Job Summary:

As a key member of the Brookshire Grocery Company team, the Operations Excellence Team Lead plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our retail stores. This includes executing store operation standards and procedures to maintain product quality, food safety, and inventory stock levels. The successful candidate will also be responsible for merchandising plans, indirectly managing store sales and profits, and promoting customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with upper management to train and develop store partners, schedule, plan, assign, and direct work.
  • Support upper management in reviewing historical data on sales, ads, and promotions, and co-manage inventory using item management processes to ensure satisfactory in-stock levels.
  • Indirectly responsible for maintaining and improving sales performance, cash flow, public relations, product quality, and work standards.
  • Ensure the store is presentable for customers, adequate staff is available, and safety, responsiveness, and fiscal management of cash and monetary assets are maintained.
  • Follow quality control and food safety standards throughout multiple departments and ensure dated products are stocked and rotated properly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.
  • Implement initiatives and strategies for loss prevention and shrink reduction.
  • Actively participate in and ensure the execution of effective merchandising plans to increase sales through displays, store layouts, and category management promotions.
  • Display exemplary customer service and act as a role model for store partners, enforcing customer engagement standards by greeting customers, answering questions, and responding to customer complaints.
Requirements:
  • Intermediate knowledge of retail grocery store operations.
  • Intermediate knowledge of WFM (Workforce Management).
  • Basic understanding of cash register, Company checkout policies, and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge and compliance of state laws regarding the sale of alcohol, tobacco, and lottery, as applicable.
  • Basic knowledge of anti-money laundering and other government regulations relating to monetary transactions.
  • Basic knowledge of on-site fuel station procedures, if applicable.
  • Basic knowledge of SAP for reporting purposes.
  • Ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to remain professional and courteous with customers.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time.
  • Ability to carry out short-term strategic objectives aligned with Company initiatives.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to evaluate partner performance and make corrections as needed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods, and processes.
  • Ability to perform basic Microsoft Office functions.
  • Ability to safely work with sharp objects such as knives, box cutters, etc.
  • Ability to operate manual or electric pallet jack.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 18 years of age required.
  • Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.
  • High School diploma or GED and two or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) certification required.
  • Manager Food Safety certification required.
  • AML certification required.
  • TABC/LACT certification required where applicable.
  • Fuel Operator C Training required where applicable.
