Role Summary
As a Respiratory Therapist, your responsibilities will include evaluating and treating patients with respiratory conditions, conducting diagnostic assessments, and collaborating with physicians to create and execute personalized treatment strategies. You will also provide education to patients and their families regarding effective management of their conditions and medication usage.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Respiratory Manager

Key Duties:

  • Assess lung function and analyze blood samples using blood gas analyzers.
  • Administer and evaluate responses to prescribed therapies in accordance with care plans.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate patient statuses as necessary.
  • Review respiratory care protocols and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
  • Respond to emergency situations, assess patient conditions, and provide appropriate interventions.
  • Educate patients and families about medical conditions and available community resources.
  • Manage respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders, ensuring proper inventory and distribution.
  • Maintain and sanitize equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and calibrate devices.
  • Conduct arterial blood gas draws, manage bubble CPAP for infants, and provide various therapies including aerosol treatments, MDI, pulse oximetry, ETCO2 monitoring, oxygen therapy, CPT, BIPAPs, and ventilator management across all age groups.
  • Utilize computer systems for order entry, therapy documentation, supply ordering, and service charge management.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Educational Requirements:

  • Completion of a Respiratory Care Program with an Associate's degree in Science or a Certification of Graduation in Advanced Practice Level Respiratory Therapy is mandatory.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Active and valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification is essential.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications must be obtained within six months of employment.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification is preferred.
