Overview

The University of Virginia seeks a skilled Registered Nurse to serve as a Patient Placement Liaison, coordinating the placement of patients in designated departments. This role requires strong clinical nursing skills and knowledge of care requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a front-line liaison between external physicians, nursing staff, and patient intake areas to expedite timely patient placement.
  • Clinically coordinate and facilitate patient placement using nursing skills and knowledge of care requirements.
  • Maintain a positive and professional work environment.
  • Identify potential areas for improved operations and care.
  • Perform telephonic patient triage and process requests for assistance with acute patient transfers and admissions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to secure relevant patient care data and identify key patient issues.
  • Provide medical interpretation of diagnoses and specialized patient care needs.
  • Communicate an accurate clinical presentation of the patient to accepting physicians.
  • Identify health needs based on assessment and utilize guidelines to facilitate appropriate disposition.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required; BSN preferred and required within 5 years of hire date.
  • 3+ years of experience as med/surg, critical care, or ED bedside RN required; 5+ years preferred.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia required; Valid Virginia Driver's License may be required.

Compensation: The estimated salary for this position is $44.91 - $58.39 per hour, based on the title, job description, and location.
