We are seeking a Family Development Specialist to join our team at Brighter Beginnings, a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting healthy births and successful development of children by partnering with parents and helping to build strong communities.

Job Description

This is a full-time, non-exempt position that requires working closely with families in our Early Head Start/Head Start program. As a Family Development Specialist, you will play a vital role in promoting positive birth outcomes, enhancing child development, and fostering healthy family relationships.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a caseload of approximately 12 families and schedule weekly home visitation sessions with participating caregivers and their children.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate parent and child activities based on the EHS/HS curriculum.
  • Coordinate with teammates to implement group socializations twice monthly.
  • Work with caregivers to ensure timely completion of prenatal, well-child exams, immunizations, health and dental screenings, and nutrition assessments.
  • Complete required assessments with families in a timely manner.
  • Meet deadlines for paperwork, documentation, and grant reports.
  • Collaborate with community partner agencies to access services for participating families.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience working with children from 0-5 years old is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English is required.
  • Strong computer skills and writing abilities are essential.
  • A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, reliable vehicle, and car insurance are necessary.
  • You must pass a background check and have no history of abuse/neglect.

The estimated salary for this position is $26.50 per hour, resulting in an annual income of approximately $54,880 based on a 40-hour workweek. This calculation assumes a 52-week workyear and does not include overtime pay or bonuses.
