Mentorship Specialist

Catholic Charities Diocese is seeking a skilled Mentorship Specialist to join their team. In this rewarding role, you will provide personalized support and guidance to individuals experiencing homelessness, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in human services, with a minimum of one year of experience working with vulnerable populations. A positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential for success in this position.
In terms of salary, we offer a competitive package ranging from $45,000 to $60,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. If you are passionate about making a difference in your community and possess the necessary skills and qualities, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and orient new participants, complete initial intakes, and explain program routines and behavioral expectations
- Provide a consistent presence in the facility, ensuring physical, emotional, and psychological safety
- Prepare meal supplies, assist with serving meals, and oversee after-meal clean up
- Assist participants in developing life skills, such as using showers, laundry facilities, and maintaining the environment
- Support residents in following through on established goals, check-in with participants after off-site appointments, and document progress and barriers to success
- Ensure facility is clean, well maintained, and support participants in completing chores in a timely and efficient manner
- Keep supervisor apprised of issues, problems, complaints, and/or concerns expressed by residents
- Document services provided, maintain sign-in logs, and other record-keeping processes
Requirements:
- Associate's degree in Human Services, social or behavioral sciences, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum one-year experience serving people experiencing homelessness, living with substance use disorders, and/or mental illness
- Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn and grow
- Well-developed listening skills
- Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred, but not required
- Successful completion of a live scan background clearance
- Familiarity with trauma-informed approaches to service delivery
- Strong computer skills and ability to become proficient with database software
- Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record
- Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently
Work Environment:
This role involves working in a moderate noise level environment with frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
