Financial Controller for Restaurant Operations

Key Responsibilities:
This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of monthly restaurant Profit and Loss (P&L) statements. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of financial and accounting principles in accordance with GAAP standards.
The individual will be expected to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, demonstrating proficiency in troubleshooting, independent work, and providing effective solutions to challenges.
Daily Interactions:
This position requires regular communication with restaurant management and internal teams, necessitating strong verbal and written communication skills.
Your Key Job Performance:
- Offer first-level support to restaurant operations management, addressing inventory inquiries, problem-solving, and fulfilling ad hoc operational requests.
- Provide direct support to team members, supplier partners, and third-party service providers.
- Conduct end-of-period trend analysis on P&L account categories and investigate P&L details.
- Prepare and update recurring journal entries.
- Utilize analytical thinking and research skills to resolve issues and identify opportunities.
- Enforce company policies where necessary.
- Assist in training third-party outsourcing providers on new processes and ongoing functional challenges.
- Ensure timely and accurate review and approval of journal entries and reconciliations.
- Perform specific balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support ad hoc reporting and audit schedules as needed.
- Aid in payroll functions, including researching payroll discrepancies and correcting suspense accounts.
- Monitor, maintain, and reconcile all brand charity initiatives.
Qualifications:
- A college degree is preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Advanced accounting knowledge at the college level is required.
- A minimum of three years of experience in relevant accounting roles.
- General ledger expertise is essential.
- Customer service experience is necessary.
- Familiarity with Financial Reporting and GAAP is advantageous.
- Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles and general ledger systems, with the ability to apply these principles effectively.
- Strong focus on teamwork and customer service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with all levels to achieve departmental objectives.
- Capacity to work independently and make swift, appropriate decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills to manage and prioritize competing tasks.
