Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join our multidisciplinary team at Duke Health, specializing in Child Psychiatry. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, collaborating with attending physicians, and contributing to the development of comprehensive treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform triage, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies, provide diagnostic procedures and professional consultations, prescribe appropriate interventions and medications, coordinate the care of patients, and provide direct patient care services to child and adolescent patients with physical illness and co-morbid behavioral health needs in both the inpatient medical and outpatient setting.
  • Provide support to patients and families as they transition from an inpatient medical setting to outpatient care and work closely with a range of pediatric medical specialists.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the department and hospital to provide care to complex patients.
  • Analyze clinical practice patterns so as to provide the best medical care and to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Make work assignments for assigned nursing and technical personnel; review the work of other staff; train new personnel.
  • Participate in teaching students and residents in techniques and procedures which are unique to the mental health setting.
Requirements
  • Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.
  • Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • 1+ years of APP experience strongly preferred. Some experience in child psychiatry required.
