Position: Nurse Practitioner - NP - Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) - Full Time
The cardiothoracic surgery division is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to provide care in the cardiothoracic intensive care unit (CTICU) and CT Stepdown unit. This role involves rotating 12.5-hour shifts, including days, nights, and weekends. Working in cardiothoracic surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital means engaging with complex cases and utilizing advanced technology to deliver patient-centered care as part of a highly collaborative team. Our nursing staff plays a crucial role in sharing knowledge and best practices that lead to transformative patient experiences. The Nurse Practitioner for Cardiothoracic Surgery will be responsible for planning, assessing, managing, and delivering comprehensive patient care. Your leadership and coordination will significantly influence the quality of care provided to our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and advanced practice providers to identify, develop, and implement quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes, increasing patient satisfaction, and optimizing departmental processes.
- Contribute to the creation of training programs for advanced practice providers, coordinate training sessions, and maintain relevant documentation.
- Engage in clinical research within the department, including screening potential subjects, obtaining consent, randomization, and conducting follow-up visits using electronic case report forms.
- Ensure continuity of care in outpatient settings before and after surgical procedures.
- Develop and uphold policies, standards, and procedures related to patient care.
- Prior experience as a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner in ICU or cardiothoracic surgery/ICU is preferred.
- Master's Degree in Nursing.
- New York State Registered Nurse License and Adult, Acute Care, or Family Nurse Practitioner License.
- Board Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association.
Compensation:
$146,250-$163,075/Annual
