Position Overview

The role of the Plant Operations Technician involves executing a variety of essential tasks that support the maintenance, production, and operation of equipment within the facility. This position is crucial for ensuring the smooth functioning of plant operations through diligent upkeep and operational support.

Work Schedule: Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts preventive and routine maintenance on both mobile and stationary equipment, including cutting and welding tasks under the supervision of the plant manager or designated personnel.
  • Performs daily inspections before and after shifts on equipment and keeps a detailed maintenance log.
  • Utilizes hand tools and operates machinery such as skid steers and front-end loaders to maintain cleanliness around plant equipment and ensure safe roadways and parking areas.
  • Operates a water truck to mitigate dust emissions.
  • Engages in various plant operations, including production, loading, shipping, and quality assurance.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization in assigned areas and ensures safe traffic flow throughout the facility.
  • Safely operates specialized mobile equipment, including excavators and haul trucks, as required.
  • Assists in training new team members as necessary.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and motivation.
  • Willingness to actively participate in safety initiatives within the plant.
  • Availability to work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Openness to cross-training in various production areas.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience relevant to the responsibilities of this position.
  • Preferred experience in the building materials sector.
Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members towards common objectives, contributing positively to team dynamics.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills.
  • Possesses a solid mechanical aptitude and relevant knowledge.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and performing duties with minimal oversight.
  • Able to work varying shifts outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
  • Familiarity with MSHA guidelines and plant safety protocols.
  • Prioritizes safety, followed by quality and production, to ensure a secure work environment.
