Job Overview

The Gas Turbine Component Technician plays a crucial role in a collaborative environment, focusing on the meticulous assembly and disassembly of gas turbine engine parts. This position requires adherence to established planning, tooling, workmanship standards, and general guidelines. The technician is responsible for completing necessary documentation as instructed by the Job Process Controller and Planning Engineer. Additionally, the technician conducts thorough visual inspections of components to identify any damage, defects, or wear before and after welding operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble and assemble gas turbine components and modules with precision.
  • Inspect individual engine modules and components to evaluate their condition.
  • Clean and inspect engine parts, ensuring quality welds are created according to blueprints.
  • Package, identify, and transport all finished products to designated locations.
  • Ensure all equipment is set up correctly and used safely, with all safety devices in operation.
  • Operate forklifts as required, following proper training.
  • Utilize air tools for blending and grinding welds to achieve the desired contour.
  • Interpret dimensions and tolerance symbols on prints, verifying work piece conformance to specifications.
  • Conduct first piece inspections and subsequent inspections as per RMF standards.
  • Monitor equipment functionality and request maintenance as needed.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs as required.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • At least two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Capable of following directions and established procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a logical approach.

Preferred:

  • 2-5 years of experience in Industrial Gas Turbine Repair.
  • 2-5 years of experience with GTAW/TIG welding machines.
  • Familiarity with the abrasive media blast process.
  • Basic computer skills.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
