Position Overview:
Open to both Medical Technologists and Medical Laboratory Technicians
This role qualifies for our Clinical Laboratory Incentive Program. For further details on the incentive program guidelines and eligible roles, please refer to our resources.
The technologist will engage in a variety of patient testing and administrative duties that support the clinical operations within the organization.
This position involves assisting with bone marrow collections and executing complex specialty tests, including the Hemoglobin/Thalassemia Profile via HPLC, while collaborating closely with the clinical team and pathologists.
Additionally, the technologist will participate in an on-call rotation.Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnoses issues related to equipment, test outcomes, specimens, and workflow.
- May contribute to teams or undertake special projects and assignments.
- May provide instruction to Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, as well as training for new staff members. May act as a technical advisor.
- Conducts quality control and maintenance of equipment in the designated laboratory.
- Performs routine and less standardized testing procedures, which include specialized chemical, microscopic, and bacteriological laboratory tests. Monitors tests and reactions, providing necessary data.
- Prepares specimens and reagents, solutions, heat, or filters as needed.
- Communicates results to healthcare professionals. Engages in discussions with healthcare providers regarding test outcomes.
- Reviews test results to ensure report accuracy and timely correction of any errors.
Additional Information
Education Requirements:
- A Bachelor of Science degree is required. Candidates must meet eligibility criteria upon hire to sit for the MT exam within 12 months of employment.
- Certification must be obtained within one year of becoming eligible for the exam.
- No prior experience is necessary.
