Job Summary

The Laboratory Services Assistant plays a vital role in the healthcare team, performing venipunctures, CLIA-waived testing, and ensuring quality in the laboratory under the direction of the Director of Lab Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform venipunctures and capillary sticks to collect blood specimens
  • Utilize a EHR to process orders, enter test results, and add charges
  • Utilize professional judgment to assess the need for improvements or additional staff education
  • Process specimens for reference laboratory or in-house testing
  • Monitor daily temperatures and humidity
  • Float to different locations to draw blood if needed
  • Assist Director of Lab Services with data entry for quality assurance such as resolving uncaptured charges, unmatched results, closing orders, and result resolution
  • Perform all duties in an accurate and timely manner and in compliance with ARcare policies
Requirements
  • High school or GED required
  • Preferred minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy collection
  • Previous experience with CLIA-waived instruments, phlebotomy skills, and specimen processing is desired
  • Microsoft Word and Excel; and customized software
  • Ability to learn and adapt to changing technologies as the organization changes
Working Conditions
