Unit Overview

Our facility spans six floors, dedicated to providing exceptional care for long-term residents and post-acute rehabilitation patients. Each floor accommodates between 50-60 beds, with nurse-patient ratios varying based on the shift and specific patient population. The unit includes specialized areas for dementia care, long-term care, and rehabilitation services. With a total of 250 beds, our facility features designated units that cater to various patient specialties, including general rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, traumatic brain injuries, and oncology care. Residents can engage in a variety of programs, such as music therapy, expressive arts, and gardening activities.

About the Rehabilitation & Nursing Center - Cedar

The Rehabilitation & Nursing Center - Cedar has been thoughtfully designed to embody the essence of 'home.' This modern facility surpasses the previous 52-year-old location, offering numerous new amenities, including four spacious interior courtyards, a contemporary dining area, an on-site dialysis unit, an art room, and both private and semi-private rooms equipped with windows, restrooms, and showers. Our aim is to ensure that community members feel comfortable and at home.

Position Responsibilities

Registered Nurse (RN)

The RN is responsible for delivering nursing care in a responsible and accountable manner, adhering to the standards set forth by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the State of Michigan. The RN demonstrates proficiency through the nursing process, which encompasses assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholding professional performance standards, the RN engages in ethical practice, culturally sensitive care, effective communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, resource management, and environmental health. The RN strives to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Under the supervision of the RN or mid-level provider, the LPN plays a vital role in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. The LPN provides information to patients and families regarding treatments, medications, and equipment used, in coordination with the RN or mid-level provider. Care provided is documented accurately in compliance with established guidelines.

Typical Shifts

  • 12-hour shifts (days): 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., every third weekend
  • 8-hour shifts: 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., every other weekend
  • Schedule accommodations may be considered but are not guaranteed

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Associate degree in Nursing or graduation from an LPN program is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required within five years.
  • Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Associate degree in Nursing is required.
