Job Summary

The Structures Superintendent plays a crucial role in the success of our projects, overseeing the coordination and execution of underground construction and design-build projects. This position requires a strong leader who can supervise field crews and subcontractors, ensuring the timely and safe completion of projects while maintaining the highest quality of workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Pre-plan work activities with the Project Manager and supervise employees in the structures department to develop best means and methods, including safety action plans.
• Review all contracts, project documentation, and plans to ensure that the work in the field is built to the most recent specifications.
• Plan day-to-day operations on assigned projects and ensure that proper resources are in place for timely completion, including labor, tools, equipment, and materials.
• Take responsibility for crew performance as it relates to company goals, safety audits, and following company policies and procedures.
• Initiate follow-up actions as necessary, including training, orientation, discipline, etc.
• Conduct daily briefings with the crew to review production goals, performance feedback, safety, and schedule, as well as solicit feedback from workers.
• Maintain a dedication to safety by modeling, providing education, and enforcing safe work practices and company policies and procedures.
• Ensure that proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel.
• Communicate with customers to ensure a high level of satisfaction.
• Communicate with contractors or subcontractors to coordinate work, goals, etc.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience as a pipe foreman and 5 years as a superintendent in civil utility construction is required.
• Highly knowledgeable in all aspects of underground utilities (water, storm, and sewer).
• Experience in managing crews of 10 or more employees.
• Ability to read and understand project-specific documents, including schedules, plans, and specifications.
• Ability to oversee the work of others and clearly communicate instructions to the crew.
• Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed.
• Ability to understand and expertly carry out instructions.
• Ability to keep records and prepare production reports, timesheets, equipment logs, inspection reports, change orders, and update project files.
• Ability to perform other administrative and/or project-based duties as assigned.
