Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Kitchen Manager and alongside Prep Cooks, the Culinary Specialist will be tasked with the meticulous preparation of ingredients, including tasks such as chopping, peeling, and cutting. Our Culinary Specialists are expected to maintain the highest standards of health and quality, ensuring that every dish meets or surpasses the expectations of Tang & Biscuit and complies with Health Department regulations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Preparing and organizing ingredients for cooking
  • Ensuring exceptional presentation of all menu items
  • Maintaining the highest quality of food products
  • Monitoring stock levels and communicating shortages to management
  • Ensuring proper food storage practices
  • Upholding cleanliness standards consistently and using cleaning agents as trained
  • Utilizing kitchen equipment correctly following training
  • Monitoring equipment functionality and reporting any issues to management
  • Adhering to sanitation protocols and assisting team members in compliance
  • Providing clear instructions and being receptive to guidance
  • Performing additional duties as required

Essential Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in a restaurant or food service role
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment while maintaining a positive demeanor
  • Demonstrated energy and enthusiasm
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Capability to stand and move for extended periods
