This includes wellness promotion and education, screening, care coordination, individual and group support, and crisis referral.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group support for students with behavioral health concerns, promoting emotional well-being and using structured curriculum materials.
  • Facilitate promotion and prevention program services, including health education related to behavioral health, and raise awareness of prevalent behavioral health conditions through organized curricula.
  • Connect students to behavioral health support resources, such as outpatient therapy, support groups, social services, and applicable agency services.
  • Deliver wellness education on topics such as fundamental behavioral health symptoms, nutrition, and exercise.
  • Support students in setting and planning goals, including areas of improving physical activity and sleep habits.
  • Instruct on essential life skills, such as stress management, time management, and problem-solving.
  • Provide guidance on coping skills for youth, including behavior activation, recognizing thinking patterns, using distraction strategies, and regulating emotions.
  • Facilitate small group sessions aimed at improving wellness and life skills, with a focus on social-emotional skills, stress management, time management, organization, and problem-solving.
  • Recognize and identify potential risks and refer to identified on-site behavioral health providers, following established protocols when addressing risk within the school or broader organizational setting.
  • Document activities related to all services provided and submit within designated timelines.
Requirements
  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Addiction Studies, Child Development/Early Intervention, Psychology, or Sociology from an accredited California Community College.
  • Minimum of one year of related work or field experience in mental health, substance use/addiction, social work, child welfare, or related fields in educational settings, non-profit organizations, community organizations, clinics, or health centers.
  • Current California Certified Wellness Coach Certification.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the English language, with the ability to effectively communicate with students and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using a computer and Microsoft Office suite.
Position/Site Requirements
  • Valid California driver's license, personal automobile insurance, and driving record that meets the standards outlined in the Agency's Policy: Motor Vehicle Operating Standards.
  • Physical and mental fitness in accordance with the Agency's Policy: Physical Fitness Standards and Examinations.
  • Willingness to complete a Tuberculosis (TB) test and drug screening test.
  • Willingness to complete a personal background investigation conducted by the State of California.
  • Obtain First Aid Certification and CPR Certification (when required by local county or site).
  • Ability to work within a culturally integrated workplace and respect human differences based on protected classes as defined by state, federal, and local laws.
Physical Requirements
  • Adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in a school, office, or outdoor community environment, including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), alternating between standing and sitting for extended periods, bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching, balancing, and occasional carrying and lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Physically able to walk up and down stairs routinely.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods in a vehicle to travel to assigned schools, office, or other assigned locations, which may be up to 100 miles driving distance.
  • Ability to utilize computer and telephone systems, including coordination of eye and hand and fine manipulation by the hands and fingers for typing, writing, and working with files.
